Right But Fragile

How does Democracy stay afloat

When it can be a nearly sunken boat

How can it promote and protect equality

When it can lose and mistreat authority

For some that are elected to power

Have minds and thoughts, ever so sour

They talk their way to the chair

Promising people love and care

But when they then hold the power

They take control, opponents devoured

And even if a dictator doesn’t come in

Disagreements and fights always begin

For among those who won the vote

The debates are always so cut throat

Then as the argument begins to grow

People lose trust, and governments slow

Soon the whole nation is torn apart

A civil war is almost bound to start

And while this fear may seem imaginary

That doesn’t mean it’s not real or scary.
